No Light Without Darkness
There can be No Light without Darkness.
There is an old Chinese saying that “It is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.”
We are often reminded, in the same vein to look on the positive side of things. To take action that is able to relieve, relinquish and resolve the difficulty or stresses that we are facing.
In our daily lives we have grown so accustomed to defining and redefining everything that we think, say or do as either a ‘positive’ or a negative. Everything defined by society has to be either ‘good’ or ‘bad’.
What we don’t realise, in our haste to always do what is right, is that, what is right can only be right because there is something that is wrong.
Likewise, as the title proposes, until there is darkness, light serves no purposes.
Before you think we are going round in circles, which I promise you we are not.
What I’m really trying to say is that, it is only from our moments of despair and unhappiness that we can define, realise and experience, the bliss, joy and happiness. In it’s true and definite opposite, we need to know one in order to know the other. One cannot exist without the other.
In all that there is, our most difficult and most challenging experiences, offer us great depth and insight in to our most amazing and uplifting experiences too.
So before you throw in the towel, and start becoming frustrated at the downs in life, the challenging circumstances, the exasperating moments, pause a while.
Take a deep breath.
And hopefully it will also help you see, that beautiful, amazing moments lie ahead.
As Hermes Trismegistus, “As above, so below. As within, so without.”
