Living in the Moment
A moment
is not counted in the seconds or minutes of a ticking clock
It is in the closeness of a hug, the breath of a kiss
The sweet smell of a newborn and the joy of a child’s laughter.
Living in the moment
does not describe the clock
with which we count our minutes and hours away.
No.
Living in the moment
is the awe we realise that the sunset and sunrise we wait for
is worth so much more than words can ever describe;
when the silence of the world means everything
because you can hear the breath of your loved ones deep slumber.
Living in the moment
cherishes each and every encounter
remembering that no matter how much joy or sorrow
another person brings to your life it is never just a simple coincidence
for every encounter hides within it, a diamond-mine of experience.
Living in the moment
means living fully, with every breath of your beating heart
Knowing that all is well and that all will be well, forever more.

Hi Li-ling,
What a wonderful poem about living in the moment. The way you have described living in the moment, is just how truly being in the present is!
It is noticing what we are experiencing and what is happening around us without judgement. It is being present with nature and with the people in our lives.
Thank you.

Hi Hiten, thank you for stopping by. I’m glad that the poem resonated. It’s very interesting that it reminded you of being present – which was what it was about really, except that when I wrote it, the inspiration was of how long a ‘moment’ should be, but I do like being present much better 🙂
