What’s it like being you?

Dear Human,

I’m so glad you asked!

It’s generally tough, difficult, challenging, highly pressured, never-ending but also fun, joyous, adventurous almost always, all at the same time.

Everything I believe that life should be about, complete and filled with emotion and feeling.

If only you could experience the places I’ve been to, the stories I’ve heard – much like in John Denver’s Calypso song.

Aye Calypso the places you’ve been to,

The things that you’ve shown us,

The stories you tell

The men who have served you so long and so well

You see, unlike the Calypso, I really do not wish for you to serve me.

I really do much better, when you understand that my sole purpose here, is to serve you, to do as you beckon, to work with you to make YOUR dreams come true.

Sadly, it pains me to say, that almost all the world has got it the wrong way round – most people have come to believe that they need to gather enough of me, before they start living, truly living. Working, often resentfully, in jobs that they believe offer them financial security, before retiring, a shadowy skeleton of their former selves and realise it’s too late to truly start living!

The few who have truly mastered the art of living, they are the ones who’s company i enjoy the most of.

They are true to themselves, they value me for who I am, but do not place all their hopes and expectations on me. They know that I am but a tool, a source to serve them.

So what is it like being me? Amazing wonderful, and a never-ending journey of observations and learning.
